Boiler replacements

Q
If I change my regular boiler do I need to have a new hot water tank?
ANo. The two are independent from each other.
Q
Can I reuse the existing boiler flue?
ANo. All new boilers must be installed with a new flue.
Q
If I have a combination boiler will I still have an airing cupboard?
AA combination boiler removes the need for a hot water cylinder. In most instances we would install a small radiator back in the airing cupboard.
Q
Will a new boiler require drainage?
AYes. All new boilers now condense. They do require drainage.
Q
Does a new boiler have to be on an outside wall?
ANo. We can install boilers anywhere in a property, however the flue must be accessible with inspection hatches if boxed in.
Q
Will my gas supply be sufficient for a new boiler?
AWe need to check the existing gas supply before specifying certain boilers. It may be necessary to increase a gas supply. This is extremely common practice.
Q
When my boiler is changed, will I be without heating and hot water while the work is carried out?
AYou will most likely be without heating until the last day of a boiler install. Normally, hot water is reinstated on the first or second day. If you have a combination boiler installed, heating and hot water will be unavailable until the last day.
Q
Will we have cold water? Will toilets etc still work?
AWe will always ensure that cold water is available throughout the property. As a minimum you will always have a working toilet and fresh drinking water for the duration of the job.
Q
Do you flush the heating system when a boiler is fitted?
AAll heating systems are flushed during a boiler installation. We have different methods of doing this varying from chemical flushes to power flushes. This depends on your systems previous performance.
Q
What paperwork do I need to do?
ANone. Henry Green Plumbing & Heating Solutions will activate your warranty and register your boiler with the gas safe register. They will then send confirmation of this via email or post.

AAll rented properties by law must be gas checked once a year. Failure to do this carries a large fine.
Q
My boiler has broken, will it be fixed on the first visit?
AThe chances are you will require a part. We will initially identify the problem, check part availability and plan to revisit and repair the boiler. If it is a simple fix, we may be able to repair at the time.
